Great Smoky Mountains early summer workshop
June 7 -10: Instructors Bill Campbell and Jamie Davidson
Cost: $599, Limited to 12 participants
Location: Townsend, TN
Synchronous fireflies, night time light painting, early summer wildflowers and macro fine art. Join Bill Campbell, author and photographer of The Smoky Mountains Photographer’s Guide, along with Jamie Davidson for a fun filled workshop in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If you have never seen or heard of the Synchronous fireflies, they are a species of fire fly (lightning bug) that blinks their bioluminescent light in response to other fireflies. Think of what a Lightning Bug Wave would look like. Fireworks of nature is a good way to describe the feeling, because of the beauty of the display. Our other nighttime exploration is to encourage participants to become comfortable using light painting as an expression of their photography.
Schedule: We will meet on Thursday afternoon by 7pm at the hotel for introductions and then head out to photography nighttime fun in the Smokies. Each morning we will meet for instructions and demonstration at the Conference Center at Highland Manor. After lunch, we will head into the Smokies for afternoon shooting. A break for supper will be followed by a exploration of the park at sunset and stay for nighttime fun. Sunday morning we will make one last jaunt into the Park for early light and wrap up before noontime.
